Blue bird day. Finally starting to resemble winter in the mountains out there. Today was about gathering data and observing; brought the large thermos of tea. Our intention was to dig a representative pit and evaluate the riding conditions in low angle terrain, we were pleasantly surprised by the riding conditions. Small pockets of wind-sheltered snow in the alders. Once above tree-line wind affected snow became more noticeable. Surface conditions would alternate between scoured to the ice or hard wind slab. Noticed some small cracking at our feet as we ascended frostbite ridge that got progressively more expansive but never more than 4-5ft from the track. Dug a pit on a N/NE facing 22 degree slope at ~3000ft. ECTP22, 60cm pencil hard slab failed on fist hard facets 45cm from the ground. Overall very poor snowpack structure, obvious signs of connectivity, scary stuff. Snow pit gently said "go home", remote trigger screamed it.

Unintentional remotely triggered from well below the crown, approximately 100m from left flank. Nobody caught and carried. Debris seems to have piled up mostly at the abrupt change in slope, fanned out nearly to the creek.
