Near Bow Summit

We ski toured below the tree line and noticed a 10-20 cm thick wind slab at the tree line near bow summit. The wind slab was buried under 2 cm of fresh powder at 4 pm, and fresh snow was continuing to fall (S1).

Wind slabs 10-20 cm thick. Facets underneath the crust. 88 cm snow pack at parking lot. 112 cm snow pack at tree line. We did a compression test at the tree line, and the new wind slab failed upon isolation of the column.
