Quick report
We travelled from below treeline to the alpine today on N and E aspects and observed no wet snow instability.
North facing terrain near and below treeline remained firm during the morning hours. Surfaces in these elevation bands were variable: firm melt-freeze crust with patches of stiff dry snow mixed in near treeline. By afternoon this snow had softened just enough to be enjoyable.
Alpine terrain held some dry, mostly firm wintry snow on northerlies and east facing slopes held smooth softening melt-freeze crust in afternoon. Some of the highest elevation E aspect slopes held soft transitional snow on the surface. South aspects did not have much continous coverage at this location.
Travelling though flat terrain at low elevations during the afternoon was challenging due to lack of continous snow and unsupportable surfaces where there was snow.
