Evaro Bowl

Traveled on W, N and S aspects. Fog limited observations of nearby slopes but could hear ridgetop winds and observed visible wind transport from the S-SE on N, NE, and E aspects. Snowed roughly .5 inches per hour, warming through the day. Roughly 10 inches of new snow avaliable for transport. Cracking and collapsing occurred on select mid elevation windloaded areas. No avalanches observed on N, W and SE slopes near ridgelines. Dug a pit on a SE aspect in a crossloaded area near a start zone of the Burgundy chutes (7,600ft). Found 18 inch slab above a 3 inch thick crust with weak facets below. Compression tests "squished" the new snow, and taps from shoulder had clean failure on top of crust. Chose to not ski the slope due to the structure and potential of crossing a thinner area where the weak layers could be triggered. Dug another pit on a mid elevation (6,700 ft), W aspect in a shallow rocky area. Found 10 inches of new non cohesive snow above multiple crust/facet combo's. Two compression tests failed on taps from the wrist (CTE 2, 9) in weak facets midway down with sudden planar fractures indicating ability to progate. Avoided traveling across or below avalanche paths in this area. Hunted for crusts. Seemed present on all aspects below 6,000 ft and all solar aspects below 7,500 ft. Felt like we were "tip toeing" around avalanche terrain and features.
