Quick report

Hiked/snowshoed up towards little St. Joseph peak to check out the snow conditions. Clear, sunny conditions, temperatures ranging from 13 degrees F at 0900 to 27 degrees F by 1500, no wind. Started at 4500 feet and took the typical route up to 8000 feet where I turned around. There was anywhere from 4 to 8 inches of snow. At about 6700 feet there was 6 inches of snow and 8 inches of snow at 8000 feet (all east facing aspects). Snow was loose and powdery, starting to consolidate in the bottom 3 inches of the snowpack at the ground. Saw one very brave backcountry skier. Not nearly enough coverage for skiing yet, but snowshoeing/hiking was quite enjoyable, although slow trail breaking.
