Shooting cracks were observed on South and west aspects. We dialed back our objective to lower angle slopes after our first encounter with a 2” crust on top of softer snow. This crust produced a significant shooting crack during a kick turn.

We came across a recent skier triggered wind slab, crown was approx 30’ wide and 9-10” deep. Approaching the ridge we found that the weight of a ski broke free a large section of the slab below us. While it didn’t propagate, it was significant in length.
