Noticeable effect of warming and rain visible both on and In the snow pack. We went out to knock the rust off our rescue skills for the season and to play around. It seems like we have lost a fair amount of snow over the past week, and on top of that developed a nice layer of hoar. The surface snow 10cm/20cm depending on location seems to be faceting too. We dug a 30cm deep ECT pit @5200ft in a meadow and found a 20cm slab of rain saturated snow that has now solidified sitting on a 1cm solid sheet of ice on the ground. We got an ECTP28 on the ground.
