Quick report

Day 1 of SAC Motorized Level 1. Goals were to practice rescue with the group before traveling into avalanche terrain. By the time we arrived to unload our machines it had warmed up significantly and the snow surface was becoming soft. Boot pen was about 5cm in the Hope Valley staging area meadow. The weather was as forecasted, mostly cloudy when we started in the Hope Valley staging area. as the day progressed, clouds eventually became broken. It never rained on us and temps remained above freezing the entire day. Navigating the Faith Valley meadow was challenging as we had to cross the West-Fork Carson River to get to our rescue practice zone. Snow bridges that existed not long ago to get across the river were non-existent now. As we were practicing rescue, temps continued to warm and the snow became very wet and heavy. Boot pen was now about 15cm.
