Quick report
Traveled up the Commonwealth Basin to go ski Cocaine Couloir. In the trees, we observed variable conditions ranging from icy to slushy. Once in more open terrain (around ~4000 ft), nearly all the snow was quite slushy, especially after being in the sun. In the couloir (and in many surrounding slopes) there was widespread recent wet loose activity. Thankfully, Cocaine Couloir itself sits in the shade for a long time, which made it ski well-enough when we dropped in around 10:15am (or so). The bed surface of past wet loose avalanches in the couloir skied very well, making for some great turns in select spots. The avalanche debris was very soft and easily skied through. We did not see any active sliding on any slopes, although we did exit the basin relatively early in the day.
