Quick report
I skied up to the ridge above Crater Lake - absolutely beautiful with ~12 inches of snow from Sunday and needles still on most of the Larches. A few inches of snow on the road at the Crater Lake TH but melting quickly and drivable in any vehicle with a bit of clearance. I was able to skin continuously from the car to the lake, and the summer trail was still easy to follow although slow going breaking trail. Crater Lake is pretty much completely frozen over. Travel off trail was quite challenging with not enough snow on the talus fields to make them truly skiable - I did get a few turns in above the lake but hit rocks with pretty much every turn. Chilly overnight. Fun and fast skiing down the trail in the morning.
