Quick report
We heard and felt an extremely loud crash, but could not locate a debris field or see a crown. Silver basin did not have signs of a large avalanche but perhaps pickhandle or an adjacent basin did....or it was a single rumble of thunder directly overhead during blue skies... We dug a hasty profile at 5572' on a NW aspect, 30* slope, 2:55pm. HS=190cm Hst=22cm (sitting on a 1F- breakable crust 10cm) CTM 92 CTE 93cm CTE 91cm ECTP6, SC (90cm) All tests failed on a very visible interface. We found 4F snow around rotted out poly crystals. This was some form of the 2/7 or 2/13 crusts decomposing. AirTemp -5c Did not find much windslab, some Some very firm surfaces at the ridge thanks to scouring. Small windlips / cornices were present. We found a nice pocket of wind loaded soft snow to ski, shallow turns -almost- hid the crust below if your skis were wide enough...
Avalanche
Dispersed loose dry / point releases off steep rocky features and on steep terrain where tree droppings initiated small sloughs.
