Quick report

Skied several lines above Emigrant Lake outside of Kirkwood today, with excellent surface conditions. We skied W-NW-N aspects and found no slab development on any of these aspects. We did trigger several dry loose sluffs in steep terrain, and observed some from other parties in the area as well, but for the most part, these did not entrain large amounts of snow, and stayed very superficial. There were tracks on numerous lines in the area, with no slab activity noted anywhere. We did find some windward areas where we could feel the old melt-freeze crust, but these were mostly confined to near the ridgelines. Temps were below freezing all day, with a breeze at the upper elevations, but during periods of sunshine, it felt very hot. Sunny and shallow angle slopes were beginning to get heavy by the end of the day, and some that had gone back into the shade were developing a slight crust. However, we saw no rollerballs or pinwheels.
