Snowpack

We went to Tamarack Peak to make observations today.  Around 12'' of new snow was found here from the last 24 hours.  The new snow had a density change with heavier snow existing towards the start of this storm.  We had localized cracking in wind loaded terrain, but wind slabs were stubborn and we didn't have any large propagating results.  Snowpack tests showed weakness below the density change in the new storm snow, failing near the previous storm snow from Thursday.  Also, we saw weakness on the Dec 12 near surface facet layer with unstable snowpack test results.  Visibility was very limited throughout the day with gale force SW winds and consistent snowfall.
