Pilots Peak Area

Toured up Pilots Peak. Was 21 degrees F at hwy at 1030 with light winds and just starting to snow. As I gained elevation the winds really started to pick up to moderate to strong. The storm really set in around 1100. Lots of snow being transported around. Would be on the look out for cross loading. The wind was mainly out of the S/SW but sometimes it would swirl around and be coming down slope (NW/N . HS at 8,000ft on E aspect was 295cm. The rain crust is down 140cm. It is very pronounced and just large but ice crystals. The snowpack above the rain layer is right side up. ECTX on test results, but once I put shovel behind my block is popped down right above the rain layer. Which means that is a large slab on top of that layer.
