-20 degree morning . Cold snow . Good hiking weather. Found 100cm snow depth 70cm - bottom of new storm snow 45cm- Crust layer 45-20 cm 1F hard slab Facets at 10cm -15cm Slope angle of test pit : 37 degree Elevation: 7870 Snow temp : -15F CT :13 failed at ground facets ~10cm ECT30. Failed at crust layer at 45 cm. Isolated wind slabs that did crack and break when loaded. Some dumpling when traveling on loaded snow in isolated areas. None propagated that we triggered. We chose to rode fairly conservatively . Enjoyed protected tree skiing and some open glades. A lot of the forested areas seemed to just barely be covered enough. We Enjoyed listening to pine trees snap and pop with the frigid temps in the morning.
