Quick report
We were able to avoid the wet loose problem by skiing slopes on NW-N-NE aspects and found excellent, surprisingly dry powder that hadn’t been too affected by the sun. We found some significant surface hoar on these aspects in more sheltered locations between 6000 and 6600ft. We were on the lookout for wind slabs but weren’t able to find anything significant where we skied. Overall a beautiful, better than expected day out in the hogsback!
Avalanche
We saw numerous wet loose avalanches on easterly aspects ~6400 ft. Some must have come down yesterday, and we saw a few release naturally today while we were out touring.
