Ventured up to Healy Pass today. Travel was challenging off of the skin track until around the Simpson Pass turnoff with the rain crust prevalent to 2200m ish. Beyond this, the crust turned supportive and by the time we were in the sub alpine, there was 25cm of fresh on top. A few quick hand pits showed this no reactivity between this layer and the crust below however we chose to ski mellow slopes regardless. Slight wind ‘skin’ forming in the alpine at around 2pm however no negative impact on travel. HS 150cm at 2330m.
