Quick Observation

Headed up to Mount Cain today to investigate the results of our recent winds and snowfall. Visibility was limited to the tips of your skis all day. The SE-SW wind picked up from moderate to strong at ridge top as the day progressed, however below tree line stayed fairly calm. We saw extensive snow transport throughout the day. In our snow profile we noted an easy sudden result within the storm snow but no results on the crust. Where the snow is protected from the winds the powder has settled from blower to light, providing nice soft skiing. Beneath this storm snow, the mega crust prevails.
