Quick Observation

Fun day at Mount Field slide paths. Skied the first of the steeper line which lines up perfectly with the Takk. road. Snowing steadily all day in the S1-S2 range. Around 6 cm of new snow was covering our tracks on the way back(3-4hours). Low wind all day in the area, even up on the moraine at treeline. We saw 3-4 loose dry running down the cliffs above in the alpine. Approx 20cm of new snow at 2000m. During our ascent, we could feel 2 thin crusts in the first 10-15 cm. Soft slabs were definitely forming with the new snow which were reactive to ski cuts on that first melt-freeze crust. During the descent, we kicked off multiple loose dry sluffs that were running down fast, but not big enough to be a concern at that point, but something that will most likely change in the next days. Enjoy the new snow safely!
