Afternoon ski on Bitterend. A surprising melt freeze crust 10cm down made for efficient travel and fun fast skiing. Was not the deep powder spoken of at Shames but fun nonetheless. Ski pen 10cm, boot pen 40cm at 1300m. Beautiful surface hoar of an obscene size near and on the ridgeline (30-40mm). Much smaller lower on the slope. Ridge winds were light with no evidence of recent slab avalanches. Unloaded the sleds at the summer hiking parking lot. Would not recommend parking any lower.
