Snow conditions were: Deep powder. Weather conditions were: Stormy, Cloudy. We rode: Mellow slopes, Dense trees, Steep slopes, Open trees. We avoided: Convex slopes. Riding quality was amazing.
Avalache Conditions: 30cm + of new snow, or significant drifitng, or rain in the last 48 hours.
Did two separate ECTs, both got a sudden planar non propagating fracture down about 60 cm. Didn't check out crystals too closely but it failed just above what we are assuming is the melt-freeze crust.
Skiied over the top of a small steep opening surround by trees, probably a small cliff - we had been releasing lots of significant sluff so cut to the side out of the way and the area slid. Very soft and loose, broke apart into powder and some larger soft chunks. Was the biggest of several cohesive sluffs we set off in some open steep parts of the trees
