Newfie Bowl, sunshine meadows
wardsbd
The last 5cm of snow came in without much wind. New 3 to 9mm surface hoar and some sun made for fast snow. South aspects were supportive. Sheltered East and North the midpack was weaker and we hit a few rocks. Went up to the Sunshine landing but the snow was pretty shallow and had some whumpfing. Over all good skiing in broken skies with light winds. On east aspects at 2150m October crust was giving easy Extended column tests and compression tests down 45 cm in a 60cm snow pack on Facets on the crust. Snow temperature gradients were in the strong facet regime now. With alpine temps around -12C.
