Good skiing, uncertain snow pack

Kananaskis

Column test wasn’t inspiring: (alpine slope, south aspect, 25 degrees) CTE 6 SC down 70cm on melt-freeze/facets. Poked around Blacksmith ridge to find powder snow transporting, loading convexities, and a basel facet layer collapsing under our skis. Signs of reactivity observed, but not much propensity seen, yet. The likelihood of avalanches going to ground will mostly like increase as wind transport continues. The transition zones from TL to Alpine had us most concerned. We had good powder in the alpine, getting to it is taking longer with alders at BTL and more conservative terrain choices at Treeline.
