Xmas Gully, Strachan

adamrodrigues11, Wednesday 17th January, 2024 11:00PM
About 20-25cm HST near the summit of Strachan. Snow fell cold and unconsolidated with little wind affect. By the end of the day, temps warmed slightly and there was just enough cohesion for soft slabs to form in the new snow, especially below 1200-1300m. In xmas gully, we triggered some small sluffs and observed natural point releases that entrained snow to size 1 dry loose. In the lower half of the run, the snow was beginning to form small soft slabs, that were touchy on the steep walls of the gully.
