Kahuna Light

Yukon

Day started with loose objectives in the Fraser area with uncertainty around; vis in the alpine, outflow winds and timelines. Weather rapidly improved by late morning and with sun shining and nothing more than a breeze. Group skied a steep north facing line off the ridge down to Fraser lk. The entrance to the line was firm with thick wind lip hanging onto majority of the ridge in that area. We've been able to spend a few days making observations in the area on similar slopes and with the lack of recent avalanche activity, cold stable weather and no sign of loading or wind slab in this slope we felt comfortable dropping in. It was a delight after skinning through lots of variable crusty snow on the south aspect of Fraser and skiing some light low density powder on the north face.
