Quick Observation
2221m pit on SE aspect. HS 82cm. 1cm crust with surface hoar and left over graupel. Under that 1F density to 9cm down, 4F to 19cm down, P to 32cm down, K to 64cm, ice layer to 69cm down and then 4F to ground at 82cm. Did a compression test, got a break 7-10cm down (diagonal break) on CTM12. Kept going and got another break 17cm down CTM17 on what looked to be a facet layer. Sub alpine snow was soft and lovely with surface hoar about, and of course low tide. Alpine was wind packed, at times hard to grip with skins, sastrugi. But fine to ride on with a lil crust that came away at times but wasn't an issue while riding.
