We travelled south of Blue Canyon to Sentenial mountain and the Dominion Creek zone. The morning started out at -16c with light north winds. Low cloud socked in the Mckee Ck access. The visibility improved above 1400m. At higher elevations the outflow winds ramped up in the early afternoon. We saw active snow transport and the potential for reverse loading and new windslab developing with outflow winds. There was no wind at lower elevations in town at the end of the day. The snowpack south of Blue Canyon is more wind affected than the Ruby Mountain zone we travelled in yesterday. There is a breakable crust in the Sentenial mountain and Dominion creek zone that wasn’t found in the alpine around Ruby Mtn. The wind effect was wide spread today but you could still find pockets of powder in areas sheltered from the winds.
