Quick Observation

Typical Morfee murk today with no visibility in the alpine. 13cm of fresh storm snow made for some decent but firm riding conditions. We saw no signs of instability, but to reiterate - we didn't see much! We dug a quick pit at 1550m on an east facing slope and didn't get any significant results in our tests. We found two old rain crusts in the lower portion of the snowpack (in pit photo Ben is pointing to them). Both of these crusts seem well bonded in the snowpack even though the lower one is a very hard, almost blue ice layer. Our only concern were wind slabs potentially building on north through east slopes due to the fresh snow and moderate southerly winds at ridgetop.
