Quick Observation

Up to 40 cm cold dry storm snow - overlies crust below 1850 m. Top 15-20 cm reactive as very soft slabs on Jan 31 interface, failing naturally on all steep unsupported terrain (road cut banks). Storm snow had more slab properties from slight wind effect in open areas above treeline.

Avalanche Information

Widespread natural 'baby avalanche' cycle all less than size 1 - new snow failing dn 15 cm on low density Jan 31 storm interface.

Snowpack

Cracking in top 20 cm, limited to feature, not travelling far. Reactivity seemed have peaked early in the morning with widespread Na baby avalanches on steep slopes - very soft slabs failing dow 15-20 cm. We did trigger same instability on road cut banks.
