Another day, another mission to get the wind sensor working at the Summit weather station. A rime crust has formed on the surface. Winds were light from the North early this afternoon, and wind increased as it started to snow and we saw wind gusts in the 25 km/h range in the Fraser chutes area. Probing around along a rib above Fraser chutes, we found highly variable snow depth. In places with less than a meter of snow most of the snowpack was quite facetted and loose. The Fraser area has seen a whole lot of snowmobile and ski traffic lately and we were impressed by the sheer number of tracks.
