Type

snowpack

Coordinates

51.426557, -116.331846

Quick Observation

Still lots of sharks out there even above 2000m. The snow was good, but be careful of the rocks! A small wind slab was released on the bench at 2000m over a convex roll. Some of the open area with good turns were quite wind affected and had the highest probability of a shark attack.

Avalanche Information

Small 0.5 wind slab popped on one of the convex roles on the bench located at 2000m. The small slab ran 10m and stopped at the base of the bench. No skier was caught as the slab thickness was only 15cm and the skier could self arrest. It was a wind slab on a cross loaded slope over a convex roll to the base of the bench. No real instability was felt earlier in the day as the snow pack was still fairly thin with a few sharks even near to top of the highest bench.
