Out in the sunshine today in the Rolling Hills ..... dug a hole (between sled tracks :-) on a low angle NE facing slope at 1940m. Snowpack here was 140cm, with that Nov 21st Surface Hoar / Facet Crystal weak layer down 65cms. An Extended Column Test failed on this layer, propogating right across the test block (ECTP), confirming our keep-it-mellow plan. Plenty of stumps and rocks in this relatively shallow early-season snowpack .... watch yer skis and A-arms !! Sorry, the pic doesn’t add info, but sure is purty eh ?!
