Good ski conditions around Round Mountain today.
I attempted to trigger several small avalanches off of some micro convex features with little success. Mostly resulting in loose sluffing — the storm snow hadn’t consolidated into a slab too much yet. However, at around 2:00 the temps spiked and the snow started getting heavier, developing more of a slab along with some powerful gusts of wind.
There’s anywhere from 20-50cm of new storm snow sitting on top of the crust depending on your aspect.
Steep trees skied well in general. It was still snowing at the parking lot at around 3:30 when I drove down. Temps felt around 0 degrees.
