While traversing King Creek ridge on snow shoes we heard a whuumff and crack. I looked over at my friend who was above the start of the avalanch. I witnessed a slab about 30 cm thick moving down the lee slope and breaking into large blocks. It started below a cornice feature and did not involve the cornice itself. Later we descended the west side and triggered small avalanches with storm snow about 10 cm thick sliding on top of a surface hoar or sun affected layer.
