Saw a surface hoar layer from parking lot (1700m) to about 1900m and was tapering off after 1900m (even in the trees). We dug a SE aspect pit at around 2200m and saw the following: -Snow depth was between 95-115cm in pit area -The top 10cm of snow was lighter (potentially starting to facet?) sitting on top of a harder layer. We did see a small break of that upper 10cm layer after 21 hits on an extended column test, the size of the break was about 1/4 square of the shovel and did not seem to propagate8 further and held up to the other 9 hits, the snow grains appeared quite round for the most part of that layer. -The other 100cm of the snowpack were fairly uniform and felt hard, we saw a few crusts at about 40cm (~0.5cm thick) and 105cm (~1cm thick) depth though didnt get any results from them during the CT. Some SE/E aspects especially closer to dense trees had a surface crust on them from the warm weather a few days ago, though others were less affected by this than we expected, even in more open terrain. Hope this helps, and apologies if it's not very professional. Cheers.
