The new snow and storm snow is sitting on a recently buried layer of surface hoar that may be reactive after a few more days of snow and wind. The mid-pack is strong, but the basement is weak!

The storm snow was failing with light forces applied on a recently buried layer of surface hoar. Deeper in the snow pack, we had a moderate sudden planar result below a knife hard crust on a layer of facets size 2.0-3.0. The bottom 70 cm of snow was unconsolidated one finger depth hoar.
