Today we rode Seaton Basin for the first time this year. The trail is in surprisingly good shape for this time of year, with only a couple of shallow wet spots. The snowpack here is much less consolidated than in the southern parts of the valley, and the riding felt considerably deeper. There was a meter of snow at the tree line. Snowpack tests showed no significant results, but we found the Nov 24 surface hoar down approximately 30 cm. Visibility was challenging, and we didn't go into the alpine. There was some localized snow that accumulated to 5cm while we were riding—great early-season day.
