Tried to gain the alpine ridge behind the Clemina Hut, turned around after observing large settlements traveling 50+ meters on relatively low angle terrain (~25°). 20-25cm of fresh snow above 1300m, fresh surface hoar starting at 1800m. Depth was variable, probed 180-280cm at treeline. Dug a quick pit at 1800m, storm snow didn't fail as a slab, but a weak layer 30cm down failed at one shoulder-tap, on burried surface hoar. Observed a slide just above treeline on the 14th, as seen in picture 3. Failed on a steep convex roll, at an unknown depth.
Low visibility all day, high of -5, flurries beginning in the afternoon.
The main slide path (south of the cabin) skied very nicely, with no signs of instability below treeline.
