Sapphire col

Above expectations day on the Asulkan Glacier! Late start from Loop Brook and broke trail from the moraine below Lily Glacier to Sapphire Col with ski penetration ~30 cm; no whumpfs or shooting cracks observed during the ascent and the final pitch into Sapphire Col was in strong sun but did not feel reactive in our track; descent on Asulkan delivered ~50 cm of low-density powder; we skier-triggered a small pocket/soft slab on a convex roll with limited extent and no propagation.
