Quick Observation

The last 3 days have brought a massive amount of snow to this area. All aspects, 50-80cm of new, low density snow. Evidence of winds in the Alpine, with loading on the North and South rims of the valley. We stuck to snowmobiling/breaking Trail in the valley bottom. The holes are getting deeper, the snowpack is alarmingly deep given the rains we have received. Recent snowfall amounts, have out performed the forecasted amounts, by quite some margin in this zone. Full Winter is back up on us!

Snowpack

50-100cm new snow. Seems like a lot of it came down with little wind, as there is very even coverage. Ponds we’re holding 50+cm. Evidence of winds over the last couple days above tree line, but we did not get that high. In valley bottom, where wind did touch slopes, soft slabs were plentiful, some of which produced shooting cracks from our sleds skis. We went to ski some glades, but felt content with breaking trail, and reeling back our plan. So much snow.
