Quick Observation

Great day in Emerald basin. Cold down flow winds while approaching in the trees, calm and sunny in the Hamilton Lake bowl. Wide spread evidence of storm slab and dry loose to size 2 from steep alpine features. Test pit before dropping into the basin. Density: 0-30cm Fist, 30-40cm 4Finger, 40-55 4Finger minus, 55-60 Pencil, 60 down 1Finger. The only results CTM(RP) 20, 19 down 45cm in the storm snow. Evidence of old natural storm slab releases in tree line and below to size 2. Notable observation was an old natural storm/wind slab off Top hat that ran to valley bottom size 3, right where people exit skiers right of the basin to avoid the water fall/steep roll over.
