Crowsnest provided some great views today, and some well enjoyed apricity despite the cold temps! We went exploring around the region looking at surface conditions, and checking out access to some new zones!
Similar to nearby regions there is cold snow to be found in sheltered, shady areas. A solar crust exists anywhere the sun reaches, and the alpine snow surface is wind affected and variable. Surface hoar in this area has been scattered by wind but is still prevalent on most surfaces. Treeline height of snow is 180 cm.
The day was cold, clear skies, and sunny! The wind picked up around 1pm and moderate ridge-top snow transport occurred for the rest of the afternoon. We saw no new avalanches on our travels
