X couloir skied well. Significantly more soft snow than expected, foot pen was up to 70cm in spots within the couloir. A fair bit of wallowing was required in the new snow, no facet wallowing outside of the rocky crux.
Mix of Fist+ to 4F+ surface snow had lots of heavy and chunky sluff running moderately fast.
There is a massively and scary gargoyle hanging just below the crux which is very poorly supported and threatens the entire lower half of the line.
The cornice at the top is very large but well supported.
Light to moderate wind transport in the alpine throughout the day with surprisingly loaded and reactive upslope pockets scattered about more open features. Slightly spicier feeling than forecasted…
