Quick report

We toured up deep creek this morning leaving the trailhead at about 8:15 with just dust on crust at the trailhead. As we toured up the road the snow increased to about 10 cm of light snow along the skin track. We dug a quick pit at 7670 feet on a north facing slope. Snow depth was 185 cm with a very light layer of snow 15 cm near the the pit, but if any sun hit the snow, it quickly became very soggy and heavy and wet The quick snow pit revealed compression of the top 15 cm without any failures. But on my 12th tap there was a planar failure under the crust just below the new snow. The crust was 5cm thick. No further results.
