Our two-person group set the skin track up Grouse Rock early this morning and kept a close eye on the stability. We found denser-than-expected wind affected snow on the NE ridge which lasted well into the more N facing trees. We saw small settlement cones forming in tree wells, very minor cracking along the skin track, and a stubborn 4” wind slab on a small NE test slope. We did not observe any natural avalanche activity and overall did not see any obvious signs of widespread instability although we kept it low-angle and avoided most if not all avalanche terrain.
