Red Lake Peak

I ascended up towards Red Lake Peak from the north SnoPark on Carson Pass. Temps were well above freezing and fresh natural roller balls were hitting Hwy 88 as I drove up. Once on the snow, I turned my pole upside down and it easily sunk into the wet snow for its total length. On a short steep E facing slopes I was easily able to create large roller balls and some small wet loose slides just by skinning across the slope. It seemed that slopes with a little north aspect were more eager to produce roller balls than slopes that were more southerly.  Clouds were fairly low and Roundtop was obsured for my entire time in the area and Elephant's Back, which is closer was partially obsured for much of the time.
