Quick report

Escaped the neighborhood and found parking at Powderhouse Peak. Early on our ascent we noticed subtle sastrugi and higher this became much more pronounced. Many of the trees had settlement cones. In the above treeline terrain near the summit, the evidence of wind on the snow was even stronger, and much of this snow had been hardened so that the ski penetration was 1 cm or less. Just below the summit, on isolated steeper slopes we were able to trigger small wind slabs that were 3-5 inches deep. Riding down we found much of the snow was heavier than one might have anticipated but conditions generally improved lower on the peak.
