Wet rain soaked snow with a few inches of new snow until almost 7000’. Even at 7200’ we could see old rain runnels under the newest snow. Coverage improved since visit 6 days ago. Found 150 cms in spots at 7600’. Lots of wind whales and wind pack snow on south aspects-again loading north. Tough visibility prevented good looks into steeper terrain. Was able to initiate cracks in wind loaded terrain that did not run down slope. We dug a pit at 7900’ on a NE aspect in a loaded small gully and found 200 cms of snow. Our stability tests revealed many different layers in the top 4 feet. None had much slab cohesion or energy. All seemed to result from temperature swings in the “bomb cyclone” AR event. Of note, we did have a graupel layer about 3 feet down in this catchers mitt type terrain feature.
