Quick report
Traveled on N and NE aspects on Powderhouse Peak between 3:30 and 5pm hoping to see what the recent rain has done to the snowpack. 40F at Luther Pass, low ceiling at about 8500', intermittent drizzle, calm winds. Lots of evidence of natural wet loose activity on steep slopes. Pinwheels developed easily on slopes over 30 degrees and often triggered small wet loose slides where they impacted. Measured height of snow at 130cm near an old pit which was dug and reported on Sunday (that observation reported HS 168). A quick pit revealed that snow is weak, down to and past the Feb 10 interface, with mostly F-, F, and 4F densities. There was not obvious evidence to indicate how far the rain had penetrated within the snow pack but snow at all depths was wet and easily packable, even below the Feb 10 interface.
