Skied N and NE aspects on Waterhouse Peak. About a foot of new cold snow has made for good skinning and skiing conditions, though it hasn't completely buried old tracks yet. While breaking trail on steep NE aspects, occasional cracking occurred on either side of the skin track, typically due to localized steepness or shallow obstacles. The old snow interface is typically too deep to access while skinning but when reachable is fairly firm, especially on these NE aspects. I dug a pit in this area where cracking was observed and performed a CT. The new snow has several reactive mid storm layers and is not particularly well bonded to the old snow but was also not dense enough to form a slab in this location. While exiting the N slope of Waterhouse into Grass Lake, I he ardseveral muffled whumpfs in a meadow near a partially open creek.
